Ehud Barak:
six objectives, seventeen years

The framing correction this page makes. Most accounts treat Barak as someone Epstein cultivated — a prestigious name collected for rehabilitation purposes.

The documents show traffic in both directions, and a great deal of it initiated by Barak.

He requested funding. He sought investment. He asked for introductions to institutional investors. He asked Epstein to broker a media interview during a US presidential race. He and his family requested academic placements, medical treatment and the use of Epstein’s properties.

Some of those requests continued while Epstein was incarcerated.

The duration is the other correction. Reporting traces the entanglement from roughly 2002 through June 2019 — the final documented message being from Barak’s wife, arranging a stay at an Epstein apartment weeks before the arrest.

Barak’s position. He acknowledges visiting, maintains he never observed inappropriate behaviour, and has said the relationship was professional. He has repeatedly characterised it as more limited than the documents indicate.

He has not been charged. Israel has opened no investigation. He remains a widely cited commentator on Middle East affairs.

The one objective with a confirmed, quantified outcome.

2015. Barak-linked entities and Epstein’s Southern Trust — one of only two revenue-generating companies Epstein ever registered, based in the U.S. Virgin Islands — invested in Reporty Homeland Security, later renamed Carbyne.

Epstein associate Nicole Junkermann also invested.

What Carbyne does. Emergency-call technology that can access a caller’s smartphone at the moment of contact — precise location, live video, device data. Built by veterans of Unit 8200, Israel’s signals intelligence corps.

Barak became chairman.

The outcome. Carbyne was sold in 2025 to the American technology firm Axon for $625 million.

Why that figure matters. Across this entire site, almost every documented Epstein venture collapsed, stalled or produced nothing. This one produced a nine-figure exit — with a convicted sex offender’s USVI trust in the cap table and a former prime minister in the chair.

The wider ask. Barak also introduced Epstein to meetings with Advent International and other institutional investors, and sought his business advice on the venture.

The lawyer detail. On the surveillance pitch, Epstein offered to have his own lawyer negotiate the terms.

No allegation of wrongdoing has been established against Carbyne, Axon or Junkermann.

The objective that moves this from business into politics.

According to the documents, Epstein financed initiatives connected to Barak’s political comeback — including the nonprofit Achrayut Leumit (“National Responsibility”).

The paper trail. Deutsche Bank records show Epstein’s HBRK Associates wired $40,000 to Achrayut Leumit Ltd, described as a public policy organisation in Israel connected to Barak.

The request, in Barak’s own framing. Correspondence shows Barak requesting funding from Epstein in 2017, describing it as necessary for “saving the Jewish state.”

Where it led. The group later supported protest movements including Black Flags, subsequently renamed Kaplan Force.

Why this is the most serious item on the page. Everything else Barak sought was commercial or personal. This is money from a convicted sex offender entering the political life of a democracy, at the request of a former prime minister, nine years after the conviction.

What is not established. The total amount, whether other transfers occurred, what the money funded specifically, or whether any Israeli disclosure rule applied. No Israeli authority has examined it.

The political consequence. Barak attempted a return in the election held three months after Epstein’s 2019 arrest. Benjamin Netanyahu used the connection against him.

February 2013. The Justice Department released audio of a conversation between the two men, in which Epstein tells Barak to “check out” Palantir — the data-analysis company that is the US government’s most significant private surveillance contractor.

May 2014. Epstein invites Barak to a meeting with Peter Thiel, Palantir’s co-founder — while the two were negotiating the Reporty investment.

Onward. Reporting on the leaked emails indicates Epstein recommended Palantir to Barak and to the Israeli government.

What that describes. A private individual positioning himself between the Israeli defence establishment and the American surveillance industry, in both directions, with no official role in either.

The detail that has travelled furthest. In one exchange, Epstein asked Barak to wait until they could speak privately before Barak notified intelligence leaders of a deal — using “number 1” as a nickname reportedly understood to mean the head of the Mossad.

How to read that carefully. It does not show Epstein working for Israeli intelligence. It shows him managing the timing of when Israeli intelligence would be told about a commercial arrangement — which is a different thing, and on the documentary record better supported.

Thiel has not been accused of wrongdoing, and Palantir has no documented connection to Epstein.

The objective at which the pair demonstrably succeeded, once.

November 2018. Epstein brokered a meeting between Barak and Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim, the former prime minister of Qatar — states with no diplomatic relations. Epstein’s message afterwards: “just left hbj.”

2013 — the earlier approach. Epstein proposed connecting Barak with Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, chairman of DP World, describing him as “the right hand of Maktoum.” That is seven years before the Abraham Accords.

The medical channel. Reporting indicates Epstein also worked to provide Emirati elites with access to elite Israeli medical care, connecting bin Sulayem’s family with neurologists in Israel.

Mongolia. The leaked inbox contains an email chain and draft memo about a proposed Israel–Mongolia security cooperation that Epstein urged Barak to advance.

What this establishes. Not that Epstein shaped Israeli foreign policy — nothing supports that. That he was performing, as a private citizen with a conviction, the function normally performed by diplomats and intelligence services: moving between parties who cannot be seen moving toward each other.

The long tail. Bin Sulayem later became a vocal proponent of normalising ties with Israel. Whether the Epstein channel contributed is not established, and this site does not claim it did.

The objective with the widest consequences, and the least scrutiny.

Working with Barak and Aharon Ze’evi-Farkash — former head of AMAN, Israeli military intelligence — Epstein brokered surveillance capability to African governments.

Côte d’Ivoire. A documented chain, 2012–14, leading to a proposed national surveillance centre — interception of phone and internet communications at national scale — to be built by a French-Israeli security firm for the president.

Nigeria. Barak-linked digital surveillance equipment contracts documented 2014–19.

Libya. In 2011, former MI6 and Mossad agents engaged over the recovery of frozen Libyan assets.

The honest outcome. The Ivorian centre did not close. Nigeria’s contract status, value and delivery are unestablished. Israel and Côte d’Ivoire did sign a security cooperation agreement in 2014, but no document establishes that the centre proposed through this channel was built.

Why the attempt still matters. A former head of a national military intelligence directorate, introduced to an African president by a convicted sex offender, to build a communications interception system. That sequence is documented regardless of whether the invoice was paid.

Israeli officials have denied the characterisations. No prosecution has followed anywhere, and no export licence has been publicly reviewed.

The category that most undermines the “professional relationship” account.

Correspondence includes requests from Barak and family members for:

• Academic placements
• Medical treatment
• Artistic projects
• Use of Epstein’s properties

Some of these communications continued while Epstein was incarcerated.

Yoni Koren. Barak’s aide, a former Israeli military intelligence officer, stayed at Epstein’s properties for weeks. Reporting indicates Epstein funded his 2012 cancer treatment.

Nili Priell Barak. Barak’s wife regularly used an Epstein-linked New York apartment as a personal residence, coordinating alarm codes and maintenance with Epstein’s staff.

The last documented message. June 2019 — from Barak’s wife, arranging a stay. Weeks before the arrest.

Why this matters evidentially. Business relationships end when a counterparty is convicted of a sex offence against a child. Relationships involving a family’s housing, an aide’s cancer treatment and children’s academic placements are harder to characterise as arms-length.

The cumulative picture, as one Israeli outlet put it, contradicts repeated claims that the relationship was limited or casual.

The single strangest documented fact in the Israel file.

Epstein’s personal assistants referred to a Manhattan apartment in their emails as “Ehud’s apartment.”

The building. 301 East 66th Street — an Epstein-linked Manhattan address where Barak stayed frequently, sometimes for extended periods, between 2013 and 2017.

What a February 2026 Drop Site News investigation found, corroborated by emails in the DOJ release:

The Israeli government installed and maintained a security system at the building.

Who arranged it. Rafi Shlomo, then director of protective services at the Israeli mission to the United Nations in New York and head of Barak’s security detail, personally coordinated with Epstein’s staff to install surveillance equipment — window sensors and remote access systems — beginning in early 2016.

Read what that describes. Not a former prime minister visiting a friend. A foreign state’s diplomatic security service installing equipment inside a convicted sex offender’s property, in coordination with that offender’s staff, eight years after the conviction.

What is not established. Who authorised it, what the equipment recorded, whether it was removed, or whether anyone in Jerusalem reviewed the arrangement. None of that has been published.

Virginia Giuffre’s memoir, published shortly after her death, describes being assaulted by “a former prime minister.”

She does not name him.

The inference many have drawn. That only one former prime minister has emerged prominently from the Epstein files — Ehud Barak — and that the reference must therefore be to him.

Why this site will not adopt that inference.

Prominence in a document release is not identification. The files contain references to numerous former heads of government across many countries. The archive is also incomplete — roughly 3.3 million pages remain unpublished.

The reasoning is circular. The inference holds only if the released files are assumed to be complete, and they are demonstrably not.

What is true and should be stated. A survivor published an account of assault by a former head of government. That account is serious and is part of the record. It has not been attributed to any individual by any authority, court, or by Giuffre herself in the published text.

Barak has denied any wrongdoing, has never been charged, and no proceeding has connected him to it.

This is precisely the category of claim — serious, plausible-sounding, and unfalsifiable from a partial archive — that this site records without resolving.
