Poland & the Corridor:
the second trafficking investigation

March 11, 2026. Polish prosecutors announced they would ask two other European countries for information and evidence needed for their investigation into human trafficking related to Jeffrey Epstein.

The finding that triggered it. In a statement, they said documents from the Epstein files indicated a reasonable suspicion that human trafficking had taken place in Poland.

That is a formal prosecutorial threshold, not a press characterisation.

The countries. Prosecutors did not name them publicly. A source familiar with the matter told Reuters they would approach France and Sweden.

Why those two. France is running the Brunel inquiry — the operator of the modelling pipeline. Sweden is where Daniel Siad, the man the files describe as a recruiter for Epstein, has lived since the age of 23.

Why this was missed. The Polish announcement came six weeks after the release, by which point international coverage had settled on Norway's charges and the British arrests. It was reported by Reuters and largely not followed up.

Poland is therefore the second European jurisdiction with an active criminal trafficking investigation arising from the files — and the only one whose investigation is explicitly cross-border by design.

What mutual legal assistance means here. Formal requests between states for evidence. It is slow, it is disclosed, and it means Polish prosecutors believe material held in France and Sweden is necessary to their case.

Daniel Siad is described in the files themselves as "a recruiter of girls and/or women for J. Epstein."

What Reuters found. Files reviewed by the agency show Siad informed Epstein about his travels through Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, among other countries, scouting for models.

He also mentioned his cooperation with Jean-Luc Brunel — described by Reuters as a key suspect and longtime Epstein associate, who died in a French prison in 2022.

This substantially enlarges what was known about him. Siad was previously documented on this site scouting Cape Town in 2014 and being named in the Paris investigation. The Central European route is a separate and larger operation.

The corridor, as documented:

• Poland — now the subject of a criminal trafficking investigation
• Slovakia — where the prime minister's national security adviser resigned over Epstein emails discussing young women
• Czech Republic — where the files contain references to women allegedly used to approach other women
• South Africa — the Cape Town scouting trips
• France — the placement destination, and where he is now under investigation

His biography. Per Polish media reports, Siad was born in Algeria and moved to Sweden at the age of 23.

His response. In February 2026 the Swedish newspaper Expressen quoted Siad saying he had never committed a crime and was open to talking to investigators in any interested country. Reuters contacted him on two phone numbers and an email address found in the files and had not received answers.

Sweden's position in this case is unusual: it is not a country where Epstein operated, and no Swedish official appears in the files in any compromising context. No Swedish investigation has been opened.

It matters because of one resident. Daniel Siad moved to Sweden at 23 and has lived there since. Polish prosecutors are seeking Swedish assistance in their trafficking investigation.

The Expressen interview. In February 2026 the Swedish newspaper published Siad's response to the files — that he had never committed a crime, and was open to speaking with investigators in any country that wanted to interview him.

That statement is now a live matter: Poland has become an interested country.

What Sweden would have to decide. A mutual legal assistance request from Poland concerning a Swedish resident engages Swedish prosecutorial authorities directly. Whether Sweden opens its own inquiry, assists Poland's, or does neither, has not been reported.

Why it belongs on the map. Not because Sweden is implicated — it is not — but because the only person the files describe as an active recruiter for Epstein in Europe lives there, and a European prosecutor is now asking for him.

The Czech references are marginal, and the honest summary is that there is not much there.

Per a February 2026 joint European investigation involving Il Sole 24 Ore, El Confidencial, Deník Referendum and EfSyn, the files contain only limited Czech material:

• The names of some women who were allegedly used by Epstein to approach other women — described as only a few cases, not an extensive picture
• Profiles and photographs of several Czech models held in the documents
• One reported presence at an Epstein residence

No Czech politicians or business figures appear in the revelations.

Why it is included anyway. Because Siad's documented scouting route runs through the Czech Republic, and because the "women used to approach other women" pattern is the same recruitment mechanism documented in Ukraine with Nastia N. and in South Africa with the mother agency structure.

Czechia is a data point in the corridor, not a scandal in itself — and this site does not inflate it into one.

This report does not name the women identified in Czech coverage. They appear in the files in a context where the victim/participant distinction is unresolved, and no proceeding has tested it.

December 2025. The Ankara Public Prosecutor's Office launched an inquiry into allegations of trafficking connected to Epstein.

What prompted it. Questions raised by an opposition member of parliament following the initial EFTA document releases — making Turkey's the earliest official response to the files of any country, opened before the main January 2026 disclosure.

Status. No outcome, charges or further detail have been publicly reported.

Why Turkey is in a Europe report. Turkey is a Council of Europe member state and a candidate for EU accession, and the inquiry sits within the same European legal architecture as the others documented here. It is included for completeness of the official-response record, not as a claim about the scale of Turkish involvement.

Very little is public about what the Ankara inquiry covers or whether it remains active.
